Terms & Privacy
muxel is free, open-source software published by ProjectHax LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). This page covers the terms for using muxel and the muxel.sh website, and explains what data we do and don't collect. It's written in plain language; if anything is unclear, please open an issue on GitHub.
Terms of Service
1. The software
muxel is free and open source under the GNU GPL-3.0, and is also available under a separate commercial license from ProjectHax LLC for uses that can't comply with the GPL (for example, embedding muxel in a closed-source product). Your use, modification, and distribution of the source code and binaries are governed by whichever license you choose. See LICENSING.md.
2. No warranty
muxel and this website are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including, without limitation, the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software or site will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted. You use them entirely at your own risk.
3. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall ProjectHax LLC or its contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages — including, without limitation, loss of data, profits, or business interruption — arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) muxel or this website, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
4. Third-party agents & services
muxel is a tool for running other programs and AI coding agents that you choose to install and configure (for example Claude, opencode, or Ollama). We don't operate those services; your use of them is subject to their own terms and pricing. You are responsible for the commands and agents you run and any costs they incur.
5. Donations
Donations are voluntary, non-refundable, and do not entitle you to any product, service, support, or warranty. Payments are processed by Stripe (see the Privacy Policy below).
6. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
Privacy Policy
In short: the website doesn't collect personal data or use tracking cookies, and the muxel app runs entirely on your own computer. The only data collected is basic, mostly-aggregate traffic and security metrics by our host, Cloudflare — unless you choose to donate, in which case Stripe processes your payment.
1. The website (muxel.sh)
- No accounts, no tracking cookies, no third-party analytics or advertising networks.
- Our host, Cloudflare, automatically collects standard, largely-aggregate metrics needed to serve and protect the site — such as IP addresses, request timestamps, pages requested, approximate location, and browser/user-agent — for performance, analytics, and security (e.g. DDoS and abuse prevention).
-
To display the latest version and download links, your browser requests data from
GitHub (
github.comandapi.github.com). Those requests are subject to GitHub's privacy statement.
2. The muxel app
muxel runs locally on your machine. It does not send your projects, terminal contents, prompts, or usage to us. Any data that leaves your machine goes to the agents and LLM/service providers you configure, and is governed by their respective privacy policies.
3. Downloads
Binaries are hosted on GitHub Releases. Downloading them is subject to GitHub's privacy statement linked above.
4. Donations (Stripe)
If you choose to donate, your payment is handled by Stripe through a Stripe-hosted checkout page. Stripe collects and processes the information needed to complete your payment (such as name, email, and card details) under its own privacy policy. We never receive or store your full card details; we may receive limited transaction information (such as the amount and a receipt email) for record-keeping.
5. No sale of data
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it except as necessary to operate the services described above (Cloudflare, GitHub, and Stripe).
6. Your choices
You can browse the entire site and download muxel without providing any personal
information. You don't have to donate. If you block the request to
api.github.com, the page still works — the download links fall back to
stable “latest release” URLs.
